Sydney Odent swam 10:03.47 to set the state's fastest time in the 1,000-yard freestyle as part of 10 event wins by the Pasadena City College men's swim team in its South Coast Conference dual meet victory over Cerritos, 161-93, on Mar. 24. The meet was held at the East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium.
The Lancers are 4-2 overall and 3-2 in SCC duals.
Odent posted state top 10 swims as well in winning the 200 butterfly (2:00.58, seventh in state rankings) and 500 freestyle (4:52.65, ninth in state). He also on the state top 10 in the 200 individual medley (seventh).
PCC teammate Samuel Jo also won three events v. Cerritos, including the 200 freestyle (1:47.97), the 200 backstroke (1:54.75) and the 200 IM (2:01.20). Jo continues to be the state leader in both the 100 backstroke (51.85) and 200 backstroke (1:54.55), both performed at the Mar. 17 meet held at Long Beach City College. Jo is also fifth in California in both the 200 freestyle and 400 IM while 10th in the 500 freestyle.
Yeghikyan also scored seconds in the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle while Jayson Wilia was second best in his three events--200 freestyle, 200 backstroke, and 100 butterfly. Zachary Loomer placed second in the 50 and 100 freestyles. The Lancers won the 200 medley relay (1:44.98) behind Jo, Nuntapramote, Wilia and Loomer, and took first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:27.56) performed by David Jimenez, Albert Khanipov, Yeghikyan, and Odent.
Directed by head coach Terry Stoddard, PCC participates in its final SCC double dual meet on Friday, Mar. 31 against El Camino and host Chaffey.
