The Pasadena City College softball team scored a season high in runs in a 14-0, 5-inning rout over host El Camino College-Compton Center Thursday. The Lancers returned to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall.
Pasadena leftfielder Jazmine Cabrera led the attack by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. First baseman Bree Howard slugged her second home run of the year (just seven plate appearances overall) and joined designated player Brittany Gonzales (triple) and reserve centerfielder Julissa Moran with two hits each. Pinch hitter Amber Ingram added a triple. Regular starters Alex Howard and Angel Urbina collected doubles as half of PCC's 14 hits went for extra bases.
Lauren Jackson, the team's third pitcher, twirled a 4-hit shutout to improve to 2-0. Her ERA dropped to 0.66.
The Lancers, 3-1 in their last four games, host Cerritos College on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in a 2:30 p.m. first pitch. The game is a non-conference contest as the South Coast Conference split into two divisions this season and no crossover games count toward the SCC standings.
After 10 games, starting centerfielder Angel Urbina is batting .360 while Howard, the team's second baseman, is hitting .355 with a team-high 10 RBI. On the pitching side, Angel Wintercorn (1-3 record) has 22 strikeouts in 26 innings, allowing only 14 hits with a 1.08 ERA while Pica Madrid (2-2) has a 3.45 mark.
