Baseball's Super Season Closes In Super Regional Loss

The year 2017 will be remembered as one that the Pasadena City College baseball program rose to success. The Lancers ended years of suffering through losing seasons and finished as a final eight Southern California playoff participant. The South Coast Conference North Division champion Lancers were eliminated from the Super Regionals Saturday in a 9-2 loss by host El Camino College. The Warriors swept the best-of-3 series, 2-0.

Super Regionals Baseball Preview: #7 PCC at #5 El Camino

The No. 7-seeded Pasadena City College baseball team plays in the Super Regionals this Friday-Saturday (and Sunday if necessary) May 12-14 at No. 5 El Camino College. In their first appearance in the postseason in 45 years, the Lancers swept Riverside City College in the opening round while El Camino needed three games to eliminate Glendale last weekend.

Conant's Walk-Off Single Gives Baseball 12-11 Playoff Opener Win

Riverside City College earned a lower No. 10 seed in the SoCal region, but it has the respect of many with a No. 10 ranking in the CCCSIA State Top 20 and a high RPI that had the Tigers at No. 4. On Friday, the Tigers threw everything at postseason newcomer and the No. 7 region-seeded Pasadena City College baseball team in their opener of a best-of-3, SoCal first round series.

Conant Named SCC Baseball MVP, McGee Top Coach; #7 Lancers Host Riverside In Playoffs May 5-6

There have been many firsts this season for the Pasadena City College baseball program under third-year head coach Pat McGee. In the Lancers' 31-year history in the South Coast Conference, they picked up some more first-time accolades over the weekend.

For the past 30 years, the Pasadena City College baseball program had often been the doormat of the South Coast Conference since the college joined the league in 1987. The Lancers finished in last place 13 times and nine other times were second to last. The program struggled under a host of different coaches never finishing higher than fourth place in the 2001 season.

State No. 20-Ranked Baseball A Win Away From Conference Crown

The newly ranked state No. 20 Pasadena City College baseball team moved one step closer to the South Coast Conference North Division title with a 4-2 win at East Los Angeles College Thursday night. PCC can clinch a share of its first conference baseball title since President Richard Nixon was in office (1972) if it can sweep ELAC on Saturday in the squads' series finale. Game time is 12 noon at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.

Short-Handed Baseball Achieves Most Wins In 14 Years

The Pasadena City College baseball team, ranked No. 14 in Southern California by the coach's association, reached the 19-win mark on Tuesday in a 5-4 win at No. 17 Ventura before Citrus snapped the Lancers' 3-game win streak, 11-9, on Wednesday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field. Both games were non-conference.

Baseball Continues Hit Show

For the sixth time in the last seven games, the Pasadena City College baseball team reached double figures in hits as the Lancers beat host Rio Hondo, 8-2, in the finale of their 3-game, South Coast Conference North Division series against the Roadrunners on Saturday.

Sophomore second baseman Andres Kim has been a steady performer at the top of the lineup for the Lancers this season.

Second baseman Andres Kim batted 4-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBI to lead the Pasadena City College baseball team to a 16-5, South Coast Conference victory over host Los Angeles Harbor Thursday.

Baseball Takes 2 of 3 In Series v. State #15 Chaffey

The Pasadena City College baseball team completed its halted rain-shortened game from Tuesday with an 11-1 victory, then saw state No. 15-ranked Chaffey score the go-ahead run with two outs in the ninth in a 9-8 loss in the series finale Saturday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field. PCC ended the day in a 3-way tie for first place in the South Coast Conference North Division with Chaffey and East Los Angeles, all at 6-5 in league play.

Baseball Solves Cerritos, 6-5

Two days after losing by a 3-touchdown margin against Cerritos College, the Pasadena City College baseball recovered quickly and stopped a program, 5-year losing streak to the Falcons with a 6-5 road win Tuesday. Cerritos had won 13 straight against Lancers teams dating back to 2012.

Baseball's Rocky Defeat Part Of Conference Journey

One of the great Spaghetti Westerns in 1960's movie making was the Clint Eastwood-starred "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." The Pasadena City College baseball team went from good, a 2-game win streak over El Camino Compton Center, skipped bad, and went directly to ugly Saturday in a 21-0 loss to Cerritos College at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.

Pitching Staff Win For Baseball v. VVC

Starting pitcher Jesse Hanckel and reliever Matthew McElligott combined for six innings of no-hit ball and closer John Mendoza wiggled out of a ninth-inning jam as the Pasadena City College baseball team downed Victor Valley, 7-5, Tuesday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.

Baseball Sweeps Twin Bill Over Imperial Valley, Remain Perfect At 6-0

Last year when PCC won its first three games, it marked the fastest start by a Lancers team in 52 years. But after the Lancers swept a doubleheader over Imperial Valley at Brookside Park on Saturday, Pasadena is reaching greater heights under third-year head coach Pat McGee. PCC leads the state in runs and is perfect thus far in 2017 at 6-0.

Second baseman Jose Jimenez batted 3-for-5 and knocked in three RBI as the Pasadena City College baseball team stayed perfect in 2017 with a 7-4 victory over Mt. San Jacinto on Tuesday. The game was played at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.

Local Products Help Baseball Take 2 From West LA

The Pasadena City College baseball team opened up the 2017 season in grand style in routing West Los Angeles twice in a home-and-home series on Friday-Saturday. The Lancers rolled to a 15-5 victory in the season opener at West LA (in Culver City) and followed that with a 10-3 triumph Saturday at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.
