Playoff Rally Win In Game 2 Last Highlight As Baseball Season Ends

The 12th-seeded Pasadena City College baseball team did all it could to rally and win game #2, 9-7, in its SoCal Regional Playoff series at #5 Palomar on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Lancers, they had to play the rubber game less than a half-hour later and without their top two All-South Coast Conference pitchers available.

Coleman Mitchell in a game earlier this year threw shutout ball for six innings in Friday's loss.
Playoff Seed Assured, But Baseball's Offense Slumping As Regular Season Ends

The good news for the state #14-ranked Pasadena City College baseball team is that it has clinched a Southern California Regional Playoff seed due to its high RPI. The bad news for the Lancers is their offense slumped in the last two weeks, resulting in losing five of their last six games in South Coast Conference play.

Guardado's Pitching, Back-to-Back HRs Returns Baseball To Win Column

Jakob Guardado pitched eight innings of 4-hit ball while Raider Tello and Toshiki Kuriya hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning as the Pasadena City College baseball team returned to the win column on Tuesday, shutting out visiting Cerritos, 6-0, in a South Coast Conference game.

Rice's Walk-Off Homer Again Places Baseball In SCC 1st Place Tie

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, catcher Matt Rice seized the moment and lined a walk-off home run over the right-center field fence to give the Pasadena City College baseball team a 2-1 victory over East Los Angeles on Saturday. Once again, the Lancers have pulled themselves back into a tie with the Huskies for first place in the South Coast Conference.

Ranked #11 on this week's CCCSIA State Baseball Top 25 poll, Pasadena City College opened a 3-game series on Tuesday with the team that was ahead of them in the South Coast Conference standings--#24-ranked East Los Angeles. PCC seized the opportunity, rallyiing from down 3-0 to defeat the Huskies, 8-3, and in the process tie them for first place in the 9-team, conference race.

Baseball Now In 2nd Place By Itself In SCC

The Pasadena City College baseball team is going by the adage it's not how you start, but how you finish. That's been the case for the Lancers, who won their third straight South Coast Conference 3-game series where they lost the opener only to win the next two games in each of their series v. Mt. San Antonio, Los Angeles Harbor and now Long Beach City College.

Home Run Rally At LBCC Keeps State #12 Baseball Motoring

Add two more clutch moments for the dynamic hitting duo of centerfielder Max Blessinger and shortstop Raider Tello and throw in yet another brilliant pitching performance from reliever Benny Olguin. The three have stood out all season for the state #12-ranked Lancers and never more have their talents been relied on then on Thursday at Long Beach City College.

Guardado Save, A Family Gift For PCC Baseball

His father was a 2-time, MLB All-Star closer for the Minnesota Twins, but on Saturday it was son Jakob Guardado's turn to be closer for the Pasadena City College baseball team. Guardado completed a performance that certainly would make Eddie Guardado proud as his freshman son stranded the tying run on second base by striking out the last two batters in a 4-3 Lancers win at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Pasadena City College baseball team quickly wanted to turn the page from Tuesday's 15-run loss to Mt. San Antonio in its South Coast Conference opener. On Thursday, the Lancers did just that behind a superb relief performance by sophomore Benny Olguin, outstanding outfield defense, and a patient offense in defeating the Mounties, 10-5, at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Baseball Back on Track

The Pasadena City College baseball team has left a 3-game losing streak in the rearview mirror with victories over West Los Angeles, 11-6, on Saturday and against Mt. San Jacinto, 8-3, on Tuesday in an inclement weather-shortened game. A winter-like hail storm quickly blanketed Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field, ending the contest after 6-1/2 innings.

Baseball Rally Falls Just Short, Delta Ends PCC's 4-Game Win Streak

At first, the championship game of the Rawlings SoCal Challenge Tournament looked like it was NorCal's San Joaquin Delta College showcase. The Mustangs, state champions as recently as 2018, jumped out to an 11-1 lead by the sixth inning. The Pasadena City College baseball team roared back with six runs in the seventh and nearly pulled off the rally of all rallies before Delta held on for a 14-12 victory Saturday afternoon in a morning game played at tourney host Los Angeles Harbor College.

Nine-Run 5th Inning Helps Baseball Rout Cypress

So far so good for the 2022 Pasadena City College baseball team. The Lancers moved to 2-0 on the young season thanks to a 9-run fifth inning in their second straight road victory, 15-5 at Cypress College Friday afternoon.

Pitcher No More, Kim Delivers In Baseball's Opener Win

Three years ago, Kenny Kim was pitching for Riverside City College. But things change and Kim wanted a fresh start as a position player. The switch has already paid dividends to his new school as Kim erased a 2-0 deficit by launching a 3-run homer in the fifth inning to help the Pasadena City College baseball team win its 2022 season opener at Citrus, 8-2, Thursday afternoon.

PCC Baseball Preview: Nearly 2 Years Dormant, Lancers Resume Play in 2022

Little did anyone know that March 7, 2020 would signal the last time the Pasadena City College baseball team played a regular season game. The lingering COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the '20 season after just 21 games played and the entire 2021 season. On Thursday, PCC finally returns to the field when it plays at Citrus College in a 2 p.m. first pitch.
