Playoff Rally Win In Game 2 Last Highlight As Baseball Season Ends

The 12th-seeded Pasadena City College baseball team did all it could to rally and win game #2, 9-7, in its SoCal Regional Playoff series at #5 Palomar on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Lancers, they had to play the rubber game less than a half-hour later and without their top two All-South Coast Conference pitchers available.

Coleman Mitchell in a game earlier this year threw shutout ball for six innings in Friday's loss.
Playoff Seed Assured, But Baseball's Offense Slumping As Regular Season Ends

The good news for the state #14-ranked Pasadena City College baseball team is that it has clinched a Southern California Regional Playoff seed due to its high RPI. The bad news for the Lancers is their offense slumped in the last two weeks, resulting in losing five of their last six games in South Coast Conference play.

Harrison's Small Ball, Pitching Lifts Baseball to 9th Consecutive Win

At 5-feet-5 and 150 pounds, leftfielder Aryonis Harrison plays the game with an edge where he utilizes his speed as a weapon and creates runs a variety of ways while patrolling the outfield like a Gold Glover. On Thursday, his big plays were instrumental as well as outstanding pitching by starter Ryan Graves and long reliever Benny Olguin in the Pasadena City College baseball team's 2-1 victory over Rio Hondo at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.

First baseman Jake Trabbie has been a stellar defensive player for the Lancers this season.
Compton Sweep Lands Baseball Back In 1st Place Tie With Mt. SAC

For the fourth time since March 7, the Pasadena City College baseball team vaulted itself into a first-place tie in the wildly close 2022 South Coast Conference standings. The state #8-ranked Lancers performed their first sweep in five SCC series, completing a 3-game winning set at Compton College, 7-1, on Saturday.

Higher State Ranking, Higher RPI As Baseball Clinches Another SCC Series

Pasadena City College's baseball team started this week by moving into the top 10 in the CCCSIA State Baseball Top 25 Rankings from #11 to #8. The Lancers then reached No. 6 in the most recent RPI regional ratings, and more importantly won two games v. Compton in a 24-period to clinch their fourth straight, South Coast Conference series on Thursday.

Blessinger, Tello Continue to Pace State #11 PCC's Bats In 2 Wins Over VVC

Teams would be happy to have one state batting leader, but the Pasadena City College baseball team has two in the hot-hitting duo of leadoff batter Max Blessinger and No. 2 hitter Raider Tello. The pair just finished a bash brothers show in PCC's two non-conference wins over Victor Valley this week.

Rice's Walk-Off Homer Again Places Baseball In SCC 1st Place Tie

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, catcher Matt Rice seized the moment and lined a walk-off home run over the right-center field fence to give the Pasadena City College baseball team a 2-1 victory over East Los Angeles on Saturday. Once again, the Lancers have pulled themselves back into a tie with the Huskies for first place in the South Coast Conference.

Baseball Now In 2nd Place By Itself In SCC

The Pasadena City College baseball team is going by the adage it's not how you start, but how you finish. That's been the case for the Lancers, who won their third straight South Coast Conference 3-game series where they lost the opener only to win the next two games in each of their series v. Mt. San Antonio, Los Angeles Harbor and now Long Beach City College.

Olguin Provides Relief As Baseball Evens Series v. Mt. SAC

The Pasadena City College baseball team quickly wanted to turn the page from Tuesday's 15-run loss to Mt. San Antonio in its South Coast Conference opener. On Thursday, the Lancers did just that behind a superb relief performance by sophomore Benny Olguin, outstanding outfield defense, and a patient offense in defeating the Mounties, 10-5, at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Staff It Under Win For Lancers Baseball

Ask Pasadena City College baseball head coach Pat McGee who will be on the mound early in the 2022 season and the response will likely be a one word answer--"staff." Staff meaning if you have pitcher listed as your position on the roster, there's a good chance you could be throwing next. On Thursday, the staff did its job admirably as four Lancers hurlers combined for a 2-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Pierce.

Pitcher No More, Kim Delivers In Baseball's Opener Win

Three years ago, Kenny Kim was pitching for Riverside City College. But things change and Kim wanted a fresh start as a position player. The switch has already paid dividends to his new school as Kim erased a 2-0 deficit by launching a 3-run homer in the fifth inning to help the Pasadena City College baseball team win its 2022 season opener at Citrus, 8-2, Thursday afternoon.

PCC Baseball Preview: Nearly 2 Years Dormant, Lancers Resume Play in 2022

Little did anyone know that March 7, 2020 would signal the last time the Pasadena City College baseball team played a regular season game. The lingering COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the '20 season after just 21 games played and the entire 2021 season. On Thursday, PCC finally returns to the field when it plays at Citrus College in a 2 p.m. first pitch.
