Former PCC Football Coach Larry Reisbig Passes Away At 77

Larry Reisbig, head coach of the Pasadena City College football team for three winning seasons from 1982-1984, passed away Monday at age 77. Reisbig had a legendary career at the California Community College level, coaching also at both College of the Canyons and then Long Beach City College. He posted a 156-81-1 record (.658 win percentage) in 23 seasons as a community college head coach.

At PCC, he coached the '82 Lancers to a 9-2 record and a win in the Valley Bowl over West Hills. In '84, PCC went 7-4 and won another postseason game, defeating Riverside in the Foothill Bowl. In his three years at PCC, he compiled a 22-9 record. Among the Lancers he coached were PCC Hall of Famer Eric Thomas, a NFL All-Pro defensive back for the Cincinnati Bengals and Lynn Williams, a NFL draft choice for the Los Angeles Rams who went on to fame as Sabre on the television series "American Gladiators."

A member of the CCCFCA Hall of Fame, Reisbig's biggest success came later at LBCC when he coached the Vikings to six Mission Conference titles and the 1995 national championship. With his two Western State Conference crowns at Canyons in 1973 and 1975, he finished with eight conference titles. He also served as a head coach at Cal State Long Beach from 1987-1989. From 2003-2010, Reisbig was the athletic director at LBCC before retiring seven years ago.

Reisbig is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patty, his son Mike and daughter Stephanie Anne, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
