The Pasadena City College men's soccer team rebounded from a rough, 6-2 loss at defending 3C2A state champion El Camino on Tuesday by creating chances throughout a 4-1, South Coast Conference victory over visiting LA Harbor on Friday night.
The #18-ranked Lancers are 11-5 overall and evened their SCC record to 3-3. The eleven wins under head coach Francisco Cantero is the most by a PCC team in eight years.
Against the Seahawks, Angel Nolasco got a lead pass from Cristian Villegas and his hard shot deflected off a defender block and reached the upper net for a 1-0 PCC lead in the 39th minute.
Four minutes into the second half, Diego Lazo scored his eighth goal, on a 25-yard blast (assisted by Diego Flores). After Harbor cut it to 2-1 on a goal by Danny Gonzalez, PCC peppered shot after shot at the Seahawks' Ramirez (15 saves), finally netting two scores in a span of a minute.
In the 79th minute, Ariel Hernandez accepted a pass from Jose Perez for the team's third goal and then Angel Ballesteros fed David Canales with a cross that Canales tapped in to cap the scoring.
PCC outshot the Seahawks, 26-6.
In the loss at El Camino, Jorky Aguirre and Nolasco tallied the Lancers' goals as PCC trailed just 3-2 early in the second half. However the explosive Warriors responded with three goals to hand Pasadena its worst defeat of the year.
In fact, PCC had only allowed seven goals in the previous nine games. Rayshon Robert recorded nine saves.
Ballesteros is tied for third in the conference in goals with a team-leading 10.
PCC has a stiff test on Tuesday, Oct. 29 when the team visits #13 Los Angeles City College for a 7 p.m. contest under the lights.
