Pasadena City College men's swimmer Samuel Jo has established hlmself as a contender for some state medals in May. The freshman recorded the state's fastest time this year in the 100-yard backstroke at 51.85 seconds and did the same in the 200 backstroke in 1:54.55 in his swims at a South Coast Conference double dual meet at Long Beach City College Friday.
From 2009-2016, the Pasadena City College men's swim team made seven trips to Northern California that included a regular dual meet against host Diablo Valley College. The Lancers lost all seven of them. On Mar. 10, the Lancers ended the slump and edged the Vikings, 83-81.
Freshmen Samuel Jo and Sydney Odent both won three events as the Pasadena City College men's swim team split the South Coast Conference-opening double dual meet held at the Aquatic Center Friday. The Lancers crushed LA Trade Tech, 207-36 and lost a fairly close meet v. Mt. San Antonio, 154-124.
Not since 2011 when it finished in eighth place at the CCCAA State Championships has a Pasadena City College men's swim team had the tools to get back to the state top tier than it does this year. The Lancers are deep in different areas and they opened the '17 season with a strong fourth place out of 17 teams at the Mt. SAC Invitational held Feb. 24-25.
