Men's Cross Country 11th At Mt. SAC Invitational

The Pasadena City College men's cross country team showed more improvement with an 11th place finish out of 18 teams at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational on Oct. 13. The Lancers placed ahead of two South Coast Conference foes in East Los Angeles and LA Harbor.

It was the Lancers final prep for the South Coast Conference Championships to held Oct. 27 also at Mt. San Antonio College.

Over the 4-mile course, the top Lancer was freshman Dylan Che, who crossed the line in a time of 23:37.2 for 78th place out of 180 total racers. Che barely beat out his sophomore teammate Felipe Loera, who was right on Che's heels at 79th in 23:37.4. Trevor Abe wasn't far behind that in 81st at 23:42.4. The three PCC harriers set a pace that gives the team some encouragement going into the SCC meet. Top PCC runner and sophomore Eduardo Urbina did not compete due to an injury, but he is expected to be ready for the South Coast meet.

Also racing for Coach Innocent Egbunike's Lancers at the Mt. SAC invite were Alexis Arevalo (124th, 25:17), Keyvan Duran (126th, 25:27), Antonio Alvarez (128th, 25:40), Izaq Davolt (148th, 27:32), Adrian Zavala (149th, 27:40), Colin Schwantner (165th, 29:04), Julio Aguilar (175th, 31:23), and Jairo Palacios (178th, 33:41). 

Host Mt. SAC won the men's title with individual race winner Manuel Fernandez posting a 20:42.1, edging his teammate Anthony Alfaro at the finish (20:42.8). El Camino took third and Cerritos fourth in a preview of the SCC event.
