Women's Hoops In the Thick of SCC North Race

Just a few weeks ago, the unranked Pasadena City College women's basketball team faced a real possibility of missing the postseason. Now, the resurgent Lancers closed the first round of South Coast Conference North Division play Wednesday knowing they're suddenly in the hunt for the conference title in a battle with three state-ranked teams. Fresh off its upset over Mt. San Antonio College, The Pasadena City College women's basketball team and head coach Joe Peron decided it would change up its tactics at Chaffey Friday night. Instead of focusing on getting the ball immediately to its Twin Tower post duo of Alisa Shinn and Mercy Odima, the Lancers worked the perimeter on offense.

The Pasadena City College women's basketball team didn't just end an 8-year, 16-game losing streak against two-time defending state champion Mt. San Antonio Wednesday night. There are no medals for playing close or taking leads in women's basketball. And while state unranked Pasadena City College gave great efforts against state No. 11 East Los Angeles and No. 12 LA Trade Tech, the Lancers are 0-2 after the first week of another difficult tour called the South Coast Conference North Division schedule.

State No. 14 LBCC Beats 3-Less Women's Basketball, 68-61

It is clear that the SoCal No. 15-rated Pasadena City College women's basketball team can control the post v. most opponents thanks to the twin tower duo of center Mercy Odima and forward Alisa Shinn. But lately, teams with the ability to shoot long-range are finding the 3-2 advantage on baskets a premium.
