Women's Basketball Hangs On To Beat Palomar, Advance to Round 3 Regionals

For three quarters, it was all #6 seed Pasadena City College in the women's basketball team's SoCal Regional Playoff, Round 2 game against Palomar Friday night. The Lancers bombed in eight 3-point baskets and led 45-28 at halftime, then 56-41 after three quarters. But in the fourth quarter, PCC went cold on offense as the #11 Comets mounted a furious rally to cut it to two points.

Women's Basketball Limits Chaffey In SCC Final

The fun came back for at least one game for the state No. 17-ranked Pasadena City College women's basketball team Friday night. The Lancers snapped a 4-game losing streak, the longest since 1995-96, the year before Coach Joe Peron started directing the program by defeating host Chaffey, 70-26, in the South Coast Conference North Division finale.

The state No. 12-ranked Pasadena City College women's basketball team matched fellow South Coast Conference North Division opponent and unranked Rio Hondo in field goals made, 22-22, in their Friday night meeting. Problem was that the Roadrunners accomplished their total with just 22 misses for a solid 50 percent mark while the Lancers missed, and missed and missed some more, finishing with 75 failed attempts.

Women's Basketball Winning With Defense, Now 10-2

Ranked No. 7 in last week's State Top 20 Coaches Poll, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team ran its sparkling overall record to 10-2 after finishing 2-1 at the College of the Desert Classic Dec. 14-16. PCC's defense has been a big reason for the early-season success as the team is No. 3 in the state in points allowed at 49.7 per game.
