Women's Soccer Climbs To 3rd In SCC North
Only a week ago, the Pasadena City College women's soccer team sat in the cellar of the 5-team, South Coast Conference North Division. Two wins later, the Lancers have climbed into a third place tie with Mt. San Antonio after blanking the visiting Mounties, 1-0, Tuesday at Robinson Stadium.

PCC improved to 10-6-3 overall and 2-4-1 in conference while the Mounties are 7-9-3 and also 2-4-1.
In the 19th minute, Stephanie Esparza sent a lead pass that Yulissa Macias headed on a bounce into the net for the game's lone goal. The Lancers' stingy defense, which has produced seven shutouts this season kept Mt. SAC from getting quality scoring chances. Alexxis Molinar, Emily Matthiesen, and Summer Hofstad have been key players in the defensive end while Brianna Aguilar, Thamara Peterson, and Esparza have pushed the play upfield as midfielders.
Overall, PCC outshot Mt. SAC, 9-8, as Lancers goalie Lilly Urumieh wasn't tested much in making three saves.
The 10 wins marks the best season thus far for fifth-year head coach Reggie Rivas, who was an assistant coach when the Lancers last won 10 or more in the 2012 season (12 victories). PCC finished second that season and the team has a chance to remain in third for the school's highest conference finish under Rivas.
PCC closes the '17 season on Friday, Nov. 10 in a 6 p.m. evening match at first-place Rio Hondo.
