More Records For Women's Swimmer Carmen Ung At State Meet

Freshman Carmen Ung has redefined how fast a Lancers swimmer can go in the breaststroke. Ung once again broke her own Pasadena City College women's swim team records in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke and swam the second-fastest 50 freestyle in school history at the CCCAA State Championships held May 2-4 at De Anza College.

Ung Shatters 2 School Records On Her Way To SCC Co-Women's Swimmer of Year

Carmen Ung extended a remarkable streak for the Pasadena City College women's swim team on Saturday in being named the 2019 South Coast Conference Co-Swimmer of the Year. Ung, who set two school records as part of three individual event wins, represented the seventh straight season in which a Lancer has won the prestigious SCC award. The Lancers placed seventh as a team at the SCC Championships held April 18-20 at Mt. San Antonio College.

Carmen Ung broke her own Pasadena City College women's swim record in the 100-yard breaststroke and in the process set a new standard in the event at the 19th Pasadena Invitational held April 4-6 at the Aquatic Center. She also set a new school record in the 200 breaststroke in a magnificent overall performance.

The Pasadena City College women's swim team finished the South Coast Conference dual season at 2-5 by defeating East Los Angeles, 110-71, and losing to first-place Mt. San Antonio, 161-67, on Friday at the Aquatic Center.

The term "like a broken record" is what Carmen Ung is performing for the Pasadena City College women's swim team. Ung broke her own school record for the second time in the 100-yard breaststroke, but this time she crushed the standard.

Carmen Ung scored three event victories to highlight the Pasadena City College women's swim team performance as the Lancers lost their South Coast Conference-opening double dual, meet v. Chaffey, 141-96, and host Long Beach City College, 145-83.

Ung To Carry The PCC Tradition Of Top State Women's Swimmers

From Shannon Cheung to Connie Peng to Ariahn Givens to Melissa Cienega, the Pasadena City College women's swim team and head coach Terry Stoddard have produced elite swimmers at the conference and state levels, especially in the last seven years. Grabbing the baton in 2019 is freshman Carmen Ung from Mark Keppel High.
