Amazing Rally Falls Short As WVB Season Ends In 5-Set Loss To Grossmont

The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team ran the gamut of play levels in its Southern California Regional, Round 2 playoff match on Tuesday night. Despite playing on their home floor at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium, the Lancers looked out of sync for two sets against the fast-paced attack of state #6-ranked Grossmont.

Trying to hold on to its state ranking, the #21 Pasadena City College women's volleyball team recorded 4-set victories over East Los Angeles and Cerritos on back-to-back days Wednesday and Thursday that improved the Lancers records to 16-7 overall and 6-5 in the South Coast Conference.

Women's Volleyball Non-Conference Play Top Notch

Although non-conference RPI is only one criteria in the formula to qualify for the SoCal Regional Playoffs, the #22-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team has that area down pat. PCC is #3 in the region in the rating at .663 (seventh in the state) after its sweep at Mt. San Jacinto on Nov. 2.

State #13 Volleyball Can't Overcome Sea of Errors In Major Upset Defeat

Since the start of South Coast Conference play, the state #13-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team had a target on its back. The defending undefeated in conference champions (18-0 last year) are experiencing the full effects of fellow SCC teams rising to the occasion to beat the Lancers.

State #16 Women's Volleyball Comes Up Aces v. #25 El Camino

Since head coach Mike Terrill took over the Pasadena City College women's volleyball program in 2016, the Lancers have used serving as an offensive weapon by challenging opponents with an aggressive approach from the serve line.

Mid-Match Letdown Sends #8 Volleyball To 5-Set Upset Loss v. #21 Mt. SAC

For two sets on Wednesday night, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team showed why it had reached the #8 ranking in this week's State Top 25. But by the time #21 Mt. San Antonio completed an improbable comeback, defeating the Lancers in five sets, PCC realized it could not rest on its laurels.

El Camino Shocks State #8 Volleyball In South Coast Conference Opener

The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team went undefeated in South Coast Conference play in 2021, winning the title with a perfect 18-0 record. On Friday night, the state #8 Lancers figured to keep their streak going. But previously winless and host El Camino College had other plans.

State #8 Volleyball Pays Back #14 Canyons In 5-Set Comeback Win

A 2021 first-round playoff exit in a 3-set loss to College of the Canyons was on the minds of the Pasadena City College women's volleyball coaching staff entering a rematch between the two squads Wednesday. When the visiting Lancers lost the first two sets, the thought of having to go through another deflating sweep was enough to reverse course for PCC.

Women's Volleyball: Better Bia-lieve In Lancers in 2022

Last season, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team had a historic 18-0 run to the South Coast Conference title, ran off a 20-match overall win streak, and earned the #2 seed in the regional playoffs. All of that success was thanks to a key group of mostly veteran sophomore players. The 2022 Lancers have nearly a completely new group save for just one returning sophomore--and that letterman is already paying dividends.
