Freshman Camila Gonzalez hit the line in 30th place as the Pasadena City College women's cross country team scored 11th out of 15 teams at the Golden West Classic held Sept. 19 at Huntington Beach's Central Park course.
With top racer Amaya Givens out due to illness, Gonzalez led the Lancers contingent in the 5-kilometer race, finishing in a time of 21 minutes, 43.5 seconds.
Ellen Kim was the next fastest Lancer at 38th place (22:15.08) in the 121-runner field. She was followed by scoring runners in Jennipher German in 79th (25:40.61), Nadia Mims in 107th (29:50), and Carolina De Los Santos in 108th (30:04). Priscilla Corona braved the course at 121st (46:46).
PCC trailed fellow South Coast Conference teams as East Los Angeles was second overall behind race champion Orange Coast (Orange Empire Conference), then Cerritos in third and LA Harbor in ninth.
Coach Innocent Egbunike's Lancers return to action on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Manny Bautista Invitational, hosted by San Diego Mesa at NTC Park.
