Two years ago, Lancers rightfielder Shane Ogata caught the pennant fever on his way to helping the Pasadena City College baseball team end a 45-year drought in winning the South Coast Conference title. On Thursday, Ogata, a medical redshirt who missed the entire 2018 season, reached base five times and helped PCC capture the 2019 SCC North Division championship with a 9-3, regular-season ending victory at Cerritos.

Adversity Now For Baseball After Dropping Series To Mt. SAC

The Pasadena City College baseball team had two chances to grab complete control over its own destiny and all but clinch the 2019 South Coast Conference North Division title. But sure things on paper often never are sure things at all as the Lancers discovered with back-to-back, low-scoring losses to Mt. San Antonio on Thursday and Saturday.

Lancer Frank Yokas hit for the cycle on Tuesday.
Yokas Hits For The Cycle, Baseball Pounds Mt. SAC, 17-4

Frank Yokas had been itching to get back on the field. After an injury kept the sophomore on the shelf for much of this season, the sophomore returned to the Lancers lineup on Tuesday. The letterman then put on a hitting clinic that places him among the best in Pasadena City College baseball history.

Ingebritson 1-Hitter Lifts Baseball To 2nd Win Over Chaffey

If ever a pitcher owned an opponent, it's Pasadena City College baseball team ace Gordon Ingebritson and his spell on Chaffey College. A year after hurling a complete-game, 2-hitter v. the Panthers, the sidewheeling righty came within four outs of throwing a no-hitter, settling for a complete-game, 1-hitter as the state #19-ranked Lancers won their second straight game over #9 Chaffey, 5-1, at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field.

Road Demolitions Continue For Baseball

Ask Citrus, San Diego Mesa, West Los Angeles, LA Harbor and Compton Colleges if they are glad they don't have to see the Pasadena City College baseball team visit their home diamonds anymore this season. After watching the Lancers resemble the Conga line around the base paths from the old Bugs Bunny cartoon, those opponents probably would answer yes, and don't come back anytime soon..

Offense Heats Up In Baseball's Back-to-Back Wins

After leading the state in batting during the month of February, the Pasadena City College baseball team's bats cooled off in a couple of recent defeats. But in the last two days, the Lancers offense has heated back up with winning results.

Harbor Stops Baseball's Home Win Streak

The week that started with the Pasadena City College baseball team earning a SoCal No. 11 ranking by the coaches association has veered in the wrong direction. Baseball's Perfect 6-0 Homestand Ends In SCC-Opening Walk-Off Win

Trailing 5-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday, the Pasadena City College baseball team had the Long Beach City Vikings right where they wanted them in their 2019 South Coast Conference opener. That's because the Lancers have dug themselves out of similar holes in the past two seasons. Sure enough, the Lancers scored two in the seventh, four in the eighth to tie it 6-6 and capped the rally on Shane Ogata's walk-off RBI double in the 10th to pull out a 7-6 victory.

Arellano Hitting, Pena Pitching Prominent In Baseball's Hot Streak

Arellano is hitting the cover off the ball in batting .490 while Pena is a winning machine on the hill, remarkably earning wins in all four of his starting assignments.

Ingebritson Dominates Glendale Bats, Baseball Wins 3rd Straight

For the Pasadena City College baseball team's lettermen, the last time they faced Glendale was the worst kind of defeat. In the deciding third game in last year's SoCal Regional Playoffs series, The Vaqueros rallied from a 5-1 deficit after six innings and ended PCC's 2018 season. One Lancer itching to face Glendale again was pitching ace Gordon Ingebritson.

Baseball Beats Merced And Weather In Home Opener

It took four rainouts until the Pasadena City College baseball team finally was able to play its home opener at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Field in a rare Sunday contest against Northern California visitor Merced. Despite falling behind 2-0 after three innings, the Lancers batted around their order in both the fourth and fifth frames. PCC picked up a 9-4 victory as the rain this time only shortened the length of the game, called with Merced batting in the top of the seventh inning.

Baseball Suffers Pair of 1-Run Losses, Now 3-3

For the second straight game, the Pasadena City College baseball team lost a tough 1-run affair against a pre-season SoCal top 5-ranked team. On Tuesday, No. 3-rated Palomar edged the visiting Lancers, 5-4. That came after a 3-2 loss at No. 5-ranked Cypress on Feb. 7. The unranked Lancers are 3-3 thus far in 2019.

Big Innings Again In Baseball's 2nd Double-Digit Win
Big Innings Again In Baseball's 2nd Double-Digit Win

The Pasadena City College baseball team has batted in 18 innings thus far this season and have already thrown down a full house in high-scoring frames, plating four runs three times and five runs twice. The Lancers once again broke open a game late and waltzed over host San Diego Mesa, 13-3, on Tuesday.

Offense Explodes In Baseball's Opening Win

Pasadena City College baseball head coach Pat McGee knows he has a roster of talented hitters. He just didn't know how fast the offense would dial in. Try game No. 1. The Lancers erupted for 14 hits, scored four runs in the third inning, four in the sixth and five in the seventh to rout host Citrus, 14-2, Saturday afternoon to open the 2019 season.

Gordon Ingebritson is PCC's returning pitching ace for 2019.
Baseball Swings For Continued Success In 2019

Pasadena City College baseball head coach Pat McGee already did the "impossible" in turning the Lancers from a South Coast Conference doormat into a winning program, including a combined 49 wins and trips to the Southern California Regional Playoffs in 2017 and 2018. Now that the Lancers are on the map as a tough opponent to topple, the question now is can the program strive for bigger and better things in 2019?
