The Pasadena City College softball team makes its first appearance in the postseason in 11 years Friday-Saturday, May 5-6 when the No. 13 seeded Lancers play at No. 4 Palomar in the first round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs. The two teams play in a best-of-3 game series.

Moreno Sets PCC Runs Record, Softball Picks Up 25th Win

Sophomore shortstop Karina Moreno etched her name in the Pasadena City College softball record book by setting both the single season and career mark for runs scored as The Lancers closed the regular season with their 25th victory, an 11-0, 5-inning rout over Los Angeles Harbor on Wednesday.

Pica Time: Softball Pitcher A Big Relief For Lancers

Although primarily utilized as a starter as a freshman, sophomore pitcher Pica Madrid has turned into an all-everything hurler for the Lancers in 2017. She has frequently been the first reliever turned to by head coach Monica Tantlinger. On Tuesday, Madrid was again called on early in the game and her pitching led the Lancers to a 6-4, South Coast Conference North Division victory at Chaffey.

Cha-Ching: 3B Helps Ring Up Another Softball Victory

For two seasons, Brittany Ching has turned in gold glove standard defense for the Pasadena City College softball team at maybe the toughest position on the field--the hot corner. The third baseman is known for her cannon arm and with her quick reflexes she has put together a highlight reel of great plays and robbed many hits from opponents.

In a Pinch, Softball Delivers In Rio Hondo Victory

Pasadena City College softball team head coach Monica Tantlinger is not afraid to use her bench in big-game situations. Tied 2-2 in the seventh inning Tuesday, she sent in pinch hitters Torrey Johnson and Destiny Rojas and both answered the call with RBI singles as the Lancers downed host Rio Hondo College, 5-2, in a South Coast Conference North Division game.

Killer Br's Lift Softball Over ELAC

Clutch bombs hit by first baseman Bree Howard and designated player Brittany Gonzales rallied the Pasadena City College softball team to an 11-6, South Coast Conference North Division victory at East Los Angeles College Thursday evening. The game, which included a 20-minute delay for a protest filed by PCC on a uniform issue for ELAC, was a marathon affair that lasted three hours and three minutes.

Softball Stays Red Hot With 9th Win In Last 10

The Pasadena City College softball team continues to pile up the runs and in the process help the Lancers become an early leader in the South Coast Conference North Division race. The Lancers upped their overall record to 12-6 and stayed pefect at 3-0 in conference play with an 11-6 victory at Chaffey Tuesday.

The only thing stopping the Pasadena City College softball team of late is the 8-run mercy rule. For the third time in four days, the Lancers needed the minimum five innings to record a victory. On Friday, PCC picked up its fourth straight win overall with a season-high in runs in a 15-1, non-conference blowout over Victor Valley at Robinson Park.

While teams will have big offensive explosions, rarely does one occur where every starting player collects a hit. But that's exactly what the Lancers starting nine accomplished Tuesday. PCC rolled to an 11-3, 5-inning, South Coast Conference North Division-opening win over East Los Angeles at Robinson Park.

With no regulation-size outfield fence at Glendale Sports Complex, the Pasadena City College softball team found the spacious field to its liking. The Lancers circled the bases with three triples as part of their offense and won their fourth in a row, 6-3, over Glendale on Wednesday afternoon.

Softball Ends 10-Year Losing Streak v. Cerritos

The Pasadena City College softball team put an end to a 29-game losing streak that lasted 10 years in its meetings against Cerritos College with a 3-2 win over the Falcons at Robinson Park Tuesday afternoon. The victory was the first v. Cerritos since a 5-3 triumph in Norwalk on March 8, 2007. It had been 11 years since the last time PCC beat the Falcons at home, a 7-6 win in 2006 played at Brookside Park, the team's former home diamond.

The Pasadena City College softball team scored a season high in runs in a 14-0, 5-inning rout over host El Camino College-Compton Center Thursday. The Lancers returned to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall.

Angel In The Outfield Helps Softball Get Past LBCC, 2-1

One area that was a concern last season for the Pasadena City College softball team was its lack of range in its outfield. Balls were falling in that probably wouldn't have with faster outfielders. So when head coach Monica Tantlinger recruited Angel Urbina (La Mirada High) to play center field for the Lancers, it was for good reason.

Ups and Downs For Softball This Week

With today's postponement of a scheduled doubleheader at Citrus College ends a wacky week of events for the Pasadena City College softball team. The Lancers went 1-2, including an 11-5 loss against El Camino Thursday at Robinson Park where both teams used the contest as if it were a Major League baseball exhibition game.

Second baseman Alex Howard tripled and had two RBI and pinch hitter Bree Howard (not related) belted a solo home run as the Pasadena City College softball team blanked El Camino College-Compton Center, 8-0, Thursday at Robinson Park. The game was called in the bottom of the sixth due to the 8-run mercy rule.

Softball Loses Pitcher's Duel, 1-0

It was an old-fashioned pitching duel Thursday between Pasadena City College freshman hurler Angel Wintercorn and Moorpark sophomore Caitlin Vinyard. Wintercorn twirled a 3-hitter but Vinyard matched it and struck out 12 Lancers as PCC lost its home opener, 1-0, at Robinson Park.

For the past few seasons, the Pasadena City College softball team offense relied on power whether it be by home run or other extra base hits. But in 2017, PCC fourth-year head coach Monica Tantlinger said the Lancers will be generating runs with speed on the base paths.
