(SANTA CLARA, Calif.)--After 18 years that the sport has been offered, the Pasadena City College women's badminton team finally captured its first CCCAA State Championship, defeating Fresno City College, 11-10, in the title match Thursday at Mission College. The score was far from indicative of how things went as the Lancers clinched the match at 11-5 during the third round of play.
It was simple math that helped the Pasadena City College women's badminton team clinch its second straight trip to the CCCAA State Team championship match on Wednesday. Host Grossmont only had five available players to the normal 6-player ladder that the Lancers featured going into the Southern California title match.
