The Pasadena City College women's water polo team used its fourth place finish this year at the conference tournament to earn four selections on the 32-player, All-South Coast Conference First and Second Teams.

The Pasadena City College women's water polo team performed its highest finish in the South Coast Conference in 12 years in placing fourth at the SCC Tournament Nov. 7-8. The Lancers ended the season 8-18 overall but a solid 5-5 in conference matches.

Women's Water Polo Achieves Best SCC Round Robin Record Ever

In its 21 seasons, the Pasadena City College women's water polo program has had its share of ups and downs. Last year, a slew of injuries prevented the Lancers from finishing the 2018 season after nine matches. Fast forward to 2019 and head coach Terry Stoddard, the only coach to direct the sport since it started here in 1999, has seen his team not only remain healthy but accomplish a program first.

One of three players playing likely for the final time at the Aquatic Center, Fernanda Alvarez made the most of Sophomore Day as she scored three goals to help the Pasadena City College women's water polo team defeat East Los Angeles, 10-7, Wednesday afternoon. The Lancers even their South Coast Conference record to 3-3.

Goalie Collier Stands Out for Women's Water Polo

While the Pasadena City College women's water polo team did what it could to keep up with state #4-ranked Long Beach City College, Lancers goalie Jackie Collier went about her business. Collier made 12 saves, many on point-blank opportunities, over the first three quarters and at least showed the visitors there would be no easy scores for the high-scoring Vikings on Wednesday.

With just 13 goals in its last four games, the Pasadena City College women's water polo team will try to boost its offensive output in the coming weeks. The Lancers lost at Mt. San Antonio, 12-4, on Wednesday and dropped to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in South Coast Conference play.

An All-South Coast Conference Second Team selection last year, Fernanda Alvarez has established herself as the go-to scorer for the 2019 Pasadena City College women's water polo team. The center forward scored seven goals in the team's season-opening win, 14-10 win over Santa Monica and netted 12 overall at the LA Valley Mini Tournament played Saturday.
